Suggested Itinerary

Day 1  Adelaide to Barossa (1 hr)

Head North from Adelaide to Barossa, either through the scenic Adelaide Hills or Main North Road to Sturt Highway (Highway A20). The Barossa is Australia’s most famous wine region and has over 60 wineries to explore. Visit some big brands like Penfolds, Jacobs Creeks, Wolf Blass and more. Wineries aside, there are also the Lyndoch Lavender Farm and the unique Whispering Wall.

Day 2 Barossa to Flinders Ranges via Clare (4 hrs)

Drive through the rolling hills to Clare Valley along the Main North Road.  Stop for wine tasting or hire a bicycle or walk the 35km Riesling Trail to explore the town. Continue north to Wilpena via Melrose, the oldest town in the Flinders Ranges. Continue north to the former railways town of Quorn, then travel on to Wilpena Pound, where the mountain ranges open out into an enormous natural amphitheatre.

Day 3  Flinders Ranges

The Flinders Ranges is one of Australia's outstanding national landscapes. Take a scenic flight over the Wilpena Pound – a great way to truly appreciate its grandeur. Explore the area either by walking trail or on a guided 4WD tour. Or join the Sunset on the Chace tour. Try spotting the rare Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby in the magnificent Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges.

Day 4 Flinders Ranges to Adelaide (5 hrs)

Travel back to Adelaide via Peterborough, the only place in the Southern Hemisphere where 3 different rail gauges still exist. Then head to Burra to get the key and map for the Heritage Passport Trail before continuing back to Adelaide via Highway A32.

Day 5 Adelaide & Glenelg

Spend time exploring the city and its popular seaside town of Glenelg.  Shop at Adelaide Central Market and Rundle Mall, take a behind-the-scenes tour at Haigh’s Chocolates Visitors Centre or swim with wild dolphins in Glenelg.
